43 Woodridge Drive, Woodridge, Wellington
The character of this home can be read primarily as two stacked volumes. A lightweight timber form elevated over a solid recessed plinth that nestles gently into the landscape. The elevated upper floor provides the living areas with a great outlook towards the west and invites the warmth of both the morning and afternoon sun. The timber form extends down to enclose the entry and shelter the front door. Upon entering, the interior space immediately extends vertically to create a double height volume connecting the two floor levels. The interior is animated with a combination of sloped ceilings and high glazing to express a lightweight-airy characteristic, while the exterior provides two separate outdoor areas, allowing flexible outdoor entertaining options.
